Voting Engagement

Salem

Community organizing is at the heart of North Shore CDC. It’s what we were founded on back in the 70s, being a voice for the community which had been largely ignored. Voter rights was at the center of it. In 2012, we set out to bring a polling location into the Point neighborhood as many residents did not have access to transportation to the only location in its district.

Voting is a right and with that right comes protections. No one should be discriminated against or intimidated. Together, the Community Engagement team and students from Salem State University’s American Studies course knock on doors, host phone banks, and monitor polling locations so everyone’s voice in the Point heard.
