Celebrating with Art, Music, and the Community!

After a four year hiatus Fiesta en la Calle returned in 2023! Fiesta en la Calle is our annual festival that celebrates the vibrant culture of the Point neighborhood featuring live music, dancing, art, and the premiere of a new collection of murals in the Punto Urban Art Museum by New England based artists and Point residents. More than 50 vendors, 40 volunteers and 1,000 members of the Point community and the City of Salem came together to support the artists, small businesses, and local organizations.

The day started off strong with a warm introduction from Salem’s own Mayor Pagallo and the presentation of North Shore CDC’s Community Hero Award to non-other than the Point’s April Kigonya. Our very own Shantel Alix had the honor of accepting the award on her behalf.

Mariachi Estrellas de Boston took the stage to kick things off with the beautiful sound of classic mariachi. All the while our local vendors shared their work with the community. Artists Emily Kwong and Josh Beckett fascinated guests with their live art while Walloon’s Food Truck, Soul Slice Pizza, and Birria Gordita served made to order fresh meals and our MC of the evening Michelle la Poetica kept the energy high.

Later in the day we were able to enjoy a dance performance from Fly Kids, a cultural showcase by Cofradia Cultural the Diablos Cojuelos, and another musical guest Los Millenials.

From coloring pages, a collaborative mural, dominoes tables, face painting, poetry, and corn hole, Fiesta en la Calle had activities for everyone to enjoy.

We would like to extend a special thank you to Mayor Pagallo and the City of Salem. We would also like to thank our vendors, volunteers, sponsors, and all those involved in making the day a successful celebration of the beauty of the Point neighborhood.
