Our Community English Program began in 1995 as a way to offer new immigrants and Spanish-speaking residents the chance to gain basic language skills right in their own neighborhood. Fifteen years later, the program offers basic through advanced courses in the Salem Point Neighborhood.
Community English courses serve as a critical first step to economic self-sufficiency for many recent immigrants.
In partnership with Catholic Charities, North Shore CDC uses volunteer teachers to meet the growing need for ESL in our region. The program’s core service area is Salem, but reaches students from dozens of neighboring cities and towns such as Beverly, Peabody, and Danvers.
